Job Description:
Amherst College invites applications for the Program Coordinator for Strategic Access Initiatives position. The Program Coordinator for Strategic Access Initiatives is a three-year term, 30-hour/week position, starting at $22.37 per hour - commensurate with experience. The Program Coordinator for Strategic Access Initiatives is a newly created position in the Office of Admission which will play a critical role in realizing innovative programs designed to increase the diversity of the applicant pool. This role will be responsible for organizing and executing new pilot programs, both on-campus and off-campus. Responsibilities include generating detailed action plans and timelines, arranging event logistics and services (e.g. rooms, audio-visual, catering, travel), and leading the creative process for developing and executing an event design (venue, event format, publicity, etc.). The Coordinator must have strong interpersonal skills to work with key players in these events, including a diverse group of faculty, alumni, students, administrators, prospective students, and prospective student family members.
Working with the Amherst College Office of Admission, and specifically within Strategic Access Initiatives, requires a desire to engage on issues of antiracism and equity in educational opportunity. Evening and weekend work is sometimes required. This is a three-year term position.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Project Management
Manage pilot programs in strategic access initiatives
Help develop, organize and execute pilot programs to increase the diversity of applicants and enrolled students, including both on-campus & off-campus programs
Collaborate with the Assistant/Associate Director for Strategic Access Initiatives on planning and implementing program strategies to meet diversity and inclusion objectives
Assist with the development of reports and data tracking, which may be complex and sensitive in nature
On-Campus Event Coordination
Develop marketing and outreach correspondence
Arrange events within new pilot programs
Coordinate of complex travel logistics and communication
Stakeholder Communication & Coordination
Act as the main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
Facilitate meetings with team members and stakeholders
Work with collaborators in Admission & Financial Aid to develop and track communications for pilot programs
Other
Oversee day-to-day administrative tasks related to strategic access initiatives
Maintain accurate documentation, records, and data
Support the team with ad-hoc tasks as needed
Perform other duties/functions as requested
Qualifications:
Required
Bachelor's Degree or, in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree, more than four years of related experience coordinating programs or projects
1-3 years of experience in education or program coordination
Valid Driver’s License and successful credentialing is required in order to operate college vehicles
Excellent project management skills with exceptional attention to detail
Demonstrated organizational and time management skills; can prioritize and achieve multiple tasks
Proficiency in the use of technology and programs, such as Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
Ability to exercise good judgment and think independently while working in a dynamic team environment
Excellent interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills and able to communicate effectively with varied constituencies, including prospective app
