ABOUT THE ROLE
Are you ready to be the driving force behind category and brand excellence at Walmart for market-leading brands? We’re looking for a strategic thinker and insight-driven leader to become the recognized expert in our categories and brands. In this role, you’ll champion growth by delivering fact-based, shopper-centric solutions that benefit the category, the customer, and the broader LSB organization.
You’ll leverage deep knowledge of shopper behavior, product assortment, pricing, placement, shelving, promotion, and merchandising to shape impactful strategies. As the primary insight provider, you’ll collaborate closely with internal partners across Sales, Brand, and Customer Marketing, as well as external stakeholders, to translate insights into marketplace actions.
Beyond driving customer success, you’ll play a key role in bringing valuable perspectives from customer activities back into the organization—ensuring that learnings are shared and scaled across teams to unlock broader opportunities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Create and plan category leadership solutions that deliver profitable sales growth for the SC Johnson Lifestyle Brands (LSB) in the mass and club channels. These solutions should include shopper and category insights across products/ assortment (everyday/ new products/ promoted/ seasonal), placement and everyday shelving and merchandising, pricing (everyday, seasonal, and promotional), promotions and seasonal merchandising
Leverage LSB Category & Shopper Leadership toolbox such as Nielsen Data, Customer-specific POS & Panel, Numerator + other internal/external tools
SCINTILLA (Luminate) Wal*Mart will be of particular focus.
Where appropriate, manage and deliver against the responsibilities of the Category Captaincy/Advisory process in partnership with the customer
Identify specific research opportunities (shopper, consumer, etc.) to bring new learning to category leadership solutions
Assist with HQ lead research projects when appropriate, to provide context that will improve the applicability of results in the mass channel.
Leverage insights and resources through the utilization of a broad range of data sources, market research findings, tools, analyses, and technology to continually bring new shopper ideas to customer and company; incorporate in all category solutions for assigned major customer(s)
Create / Maintain any customer specific topline reporting / KPI tracking (reporting that is supplemental to HQ generated reporting)
Be a voice for Walmart in category management team strategy creation.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING
Bachelors degree and 5+ years (or Masters degree and 3+ years) in category management / analytics at a major syndicated data provider or established consumer packaged goods company
1+ years experience with SCINTILLA Luminate (Walmart)
Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States
PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
Experience in partnering with / presenting to customers
Solid experience in shopper insights concepts and metrics
Towering technical skills, especially in Excel + Powerpoint
Ability to communicate with data and information in a clear and concise fashion
Proficient with syndicated data (IRI/Nielsen)
Experience with Walmart specific POS and Shopper tools
Strong analytical skills. Solid experience in analyzing syndicated reports or using trade management tools (IRI, NielsenIQ, Numerator etc)
Stamina, character, sense of humor, detail-oriented tactician with proactive approach and work ethic appropriate for a fast-paced, team-oriented, growth company
