Job Summary:
Charter Oak Health Center is seeking a highly skilled Certified Medical Coding Specialist to join our team. In this role you will be responsible for performing a wide variety of functions as an integral leader of the billing team. You will work in tandem with the billing specialists to ensure accurate coding for efficiently processing claims. You will also aid in the resolution of specialized and problem claims, solving diagnosis coding issues to result in timely collections of accounts from payers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the department in medical coding and billing practices
- Work in tandem with the billing specialists to ensure accurate coding for efficiently processing claims
- Aid in the resolution of specialized and problem claims, solving diagnosis coding issues to result in timely collections of accounts from payers
- Conduct inquiries and analyses; identify and communicate issues with Finance, Operations and Clinical to prevent recurrence
- Make recommendations for system, procedure or training revisions for prevention and improvement of revenue cycle
- Advise billing and coding staff on coding and billing practices
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in medical coding and billing
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Proficient in ICD-9 and 10, CPT-4, and any procedure changes from Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance carriers.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and staff
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
