This is a full-time, direct placement role at Tier 1 Fire Protection.

Position: Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant is responsible for accounting procedures, records and statements for compliance with laws and regulations. This position is expected to prepare documentation for internal/external auditors, prepare and analyze financial statements, coordinate semi-annual audits of accounting practices, and reconcile ledger accounts to ensure accurate, real-time system accuracy & reporting, and proper ledger maintenance. This position is also responsible for training new accounting staff and delegating administrative tasks among lower-level accounting staff. The Senior Accountant should have at least 5 years of GAAP accounting experience.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Model the behaviors of a highly functional team producing extraordinary results.
• Manage Accounting Documentation Control and system accuracy
• Assist in the development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information in order to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization
• Direct activities related to accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll functions, cash management, and general ledger
• Assist in tax planning and compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, and other applicable taxes and business licenses
• Ensure company adherence to GAAP accounting procedures and policies
• Report 10-day and 30-day cash flow and AP e-check run weekly
• Maintain the company’s system of accounts and keeps books and records on all company transactions and assets
• Furnish internal reports, revise and update reports to be more useful and efficient, and furnish external reports as necessary
• Participate in financial audits
• Mentor team members processing Payroll, Labor Accounting, Accounts Payable & Receivable, Ops/Project Accounting functions
• Prepare timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
• Perform GL reconciliation and account balances, P&L and general accounting reports monthly
• Support banking operations and internal controls for cash management
• Prepare and file timely sales and use taxes, payroll taxes and 1099 reporting
• Prepare and file Property Assessment annually
• Maintain depreciation reports, asset lists, and other reports as assigned
• Track and trend accounting projects
• Complete weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual accounting-related renewals, subscriptions, memberships, licenses, filings, etc. and maintain calendar of dates and deadlines
• Resolve accounting and system errors and ensure risk mitigation
• Provide ad hoc financial reports or related support as needed
• All other duties as assigned

Supplemental Pay:

Requirements

• Must possess an accounting degree
• 5+ years accounting experience
• Specialty/trade contractor industry experience preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook required and experience with Viewpoint Spectrum preferred
