Position Summary
Responsibilities
- Develop environmental performance and strategies for sustainability metrics and goal setting, CO2 reduction, corporate remediation, and Environmental Management program implementation.
- Monitor pending environmental legislation and assist manufacturing facilities in understanding and complying with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Identify, track, and report on key performance indicators relevant to environmental aspects and impacts to drive accountability and performance measurement.
- Technical support and oversight and improvement of environmental information management systems.
- Interpret data and provide recommendations to improve energy efficiency, recycling, waste disposal, water use and air pollution control.
- Maintain records, prepare reports, and compose correspondence relative to assigned program areas.
- Audit facilities and programs in order to evaluate operational effectiveness and ensure compliance with environmental regulations and corporate standards.
- Broaden and promote energy conservation and pollution prevention programs including site assessments, benchmarking, collaboration, and communication of best practices enterprise-wide.
- Assist in strategic planning, procedure development, standardization, and program implementation.
- Perform industry benchmarking analyses with regard to environmental aspects, programs, and performance.
- Evaluate and maintain general knowledge of external environmental programs and certifications and make recommendations for application within the company.
- Provide indirect supervision and guidance of environmental professionals.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS degree in Chemical, Civil, Environmental Engineering or related science with ten years of professional experience in an engineering or scientific field implementing environmental activities to conserve natural resources; working in an environmental management system; or environmental regulatory compliance assurance.
- Computer literacy and ability to manipulate and develop spreadsheets and help design or improve databases.
- Ability to perform research work, make mathematical computations and provide comprehensive and innovative recommendations on environmental engineering issues.
