The billing manager plays a leadership and coordination role for supporting lawyers managing their billing and eBilling processes. Additionally, the billing manager oversee billing and eBilling specialists in their day-to-day tasks.
Essential functions:
- Manage, support, and direct team in their daily and monthly tasks
- Provide leadership, training and mentorship to Billing Specialists and eBilling Specialists
- Manage and track all eBilling submissions progress until accepted by the client
- Act as liaison between billing team, eBilling team, other finance and accounting teams, attorneys and practice coordinators and serve as a point of contact for all escalated issues.
- Assist with urgent invoice processing requests and urgent eBilling submission requests
- Analyze, identify, recommend, and implement improvements to billing and eBilling processes
- Accommodate partner write-down and write-off requests
- Approve weekly timecards and prepare annual employee evaluations
- Answer questions and assist with firm issues and problems
- Participate in New Attorney Orientation
- Approve Chrome River expenses for your team
- Set monthly meetings with members of your team
- Monitor progress of monthly billing goal
- Take direction and work closely with Sr. Billing Manager on billing functions

Qualifications and job-related skills:
- 10+ years of experience with billing and/or supervisory experience
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook. Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor's or associate degree, preferred
- Law firm or professional services electronic billing experience required
- Ability to communicate effectively with lawyers, team members, and firm personnel
- Superior customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail and a self-starter
- Maintain a professional demeanor, a positive attitude, and a high degree of confidentiality
- Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced business environment
- Flexibility working within the firm’s defined deadlines and lawyers’ timeframes
- Must have a professional, cooperative, and positive attitude
