The pay range above represents the minimum and maximum rate for this position in California. Factors that may be used to determine where newly hired employees will be placed in the pay range include the employee specific skills and qualifications, relevant years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Most often, a newly hired employee will be placed below the midpoint of the range. Salary range will vary for remote positions outside of California and future increases will be based on the pay band for the city and state you reside in.
POSITION SUMMARY
Under direction from the Director of Pharmacy/Clinical Programs Pharmacist, the Senior Pharmacy Technician utilizes specialized pharmacy knowledge and expertise to serves and ensure the efficient, timely and effective provision of pharmaceutical products and services to Gold Coast Health Plan (GCHP) Members, Providers, participating pharmacies, GCHP departments, provider networks, and other entities. The position is responsible for interacting with other staff throughout the organization, as well as external contacts including, but not limited to, members, pharmacies, family members, health networks, and other agencies.
Distinguishing Characteristics: The Senior Pharmacy Technician, reports directly to the Clinical Programs Pharmacist and partners with the departmental management on all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to the pharmacy benefit and other clinical pharmacy program initiatives. The position requires a high degree of good judgment, individual initiative, and close coordination with senior pharmacy and health services personnel.
Work Schedule: 8 am – 5 pm Monday – Friday, except for quarterly P&T meetings from 8:30 am – 5:30 pm.

Essential Functions Statements
• Act as the subject matter expert in pharmacy benefits and pharmacy department workflows for day-to-day pharmacy services operations.
• Serve as the lead for pharmacy department operations, optimize the workflows for day-to-day operations, help coordinate daily workload, help or follow-up regarding urgent matters when needed.
• Conduct training sessions for all new hires.
• Create and maintain all training materials and job aids.
• Carrying out department responsibilities and collaborate with others to support short- and long-term goals/priorities for the department.
• Participate in meetings as the subject matter expert to provide feedback, ideas, recommendations for new pharmacy-related projects, data analysis and collection for reports, and pharmacy benefit related matters.
• Maintain documentation of member and pharmacy cases and manage case load to ensure cases are resolved within departmental standards.
• Function efficiently and productively in the pharmacy call center.
• Perform outreach calls to members, pharmacies and/or providers to gather/provide information regarding prescription claim issues, gather information for medication therapy management, and other clinical pharmacy program initiatives.
• Establish and maintain key contacts both internally and externally to assure appropriate coordination and provision of pharmacy services to GCHP members.
• Accept referrals from GCHP departments and work in conjunction with staff to resolve all pharmacy-related member complaints, including those related to the pharmacy benefit and Medication Therapy Management (MTM).
• Using a pharmacy computer program, retrieve drug-specific technical data and information necessary for the completion of departmental and interdepartmental pharmacy-related functions and operations.
• Coordinate and assist with data gathering and entry for report preparation
• Ensure all departmental goals (including, but not limited to turnaround, production expectations, and quality metrics) are met.
• Coordinate resolution of provider pharmacy issues requiring specialized technical and professional knowledge and expertise, including pharmacy authorizations.
• Resolve claims disputes between providing pharmacies, the pharmacy claims administrator, GCHP Claims Department, and other entities as necessary.
