White Oak Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Vascular Access RN for our Heart and Vascular Unit who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.
As a Vascular Access Registered Nurse you will:
• Place PICC and peripheral lines (peripherally inserted central catheter) and midlines
• Perform ultrasound guided IV, catheter de-clotting, peripheral IV insertion throughout the hospital
• Determine placement and document the procedure in medical record
• De-access non-tunneled catheters and implanted ports
• Educate patient and family on access and document in the medical record
• Maintenance of all central and vascular access lines, including daily assessment of need
• Develop a program and train identified ICU/ ED RN's on insertion of PICC's and placement of Ultrasound Guided IV's
• Review patient charts in preparation for vascular access therapy requests, lab results, consult reports or notes as necessary, communicate with LIP
• Present central line data at Infection Prevention Committee
• Monitor the safety and effectiveness of the environment, equipment, supplies, and participate in quality assurance and educational activities as requested
• Supports professional practice by observing the following standards of nursing practice, JCAHO, hospital system, state and local protocols and guidelines
• Maintain and Audit Charge Capture in CERNER
• Participate in performance improvement projects; Collect program outcome data and evaluate the effectiveness of the program
Qualifications Include:
• Graduated from accredited school of Nursing, Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred
• 5+ years of inpatient nursing experience, with demonstrated IV skills (Preferred)
• 1-2 years of experience in an infusion related practice setting
• Current RN Licensure in good standing
• Current PICC line insertion certification
Work Schedule:
Variable Part-Time: 2X/month, 8-hour shifts and as needed.
