Position Overview

QinetiQ US is seeking strategic communications and public affairs professionals to support the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (OUSD) for Research and Engineering (R&E) in the development, implementation, and day to day execution of their engagement strategy with the wider DoD, Industry, and International Partners.  Successful candidates will have a record of working within high performing teams providing professional communications support across a wide variety of media platforms (social, digital, print, etc.), and technologies within high echelon DoD organizations.  Specific responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of the organizational structure and priorities of the assigned office; mastery level skills in the use and development of PowerPoint and other multimedia applications; the ability to generate new and dynamic presentations properly scoped to different audiences; skill and ability to interface with senior level officials; review, analyze, and recommend solutions to programmatic problems and issues; track issues and problems through to resolution; and respond to related questions and correspondence; schedule and coordinate speaking engagements and the associated logistics related to the presentation of material.
  • Ability to research multiple topics, such as major technical issues and research trends, and use that research to write speeches and create presentations that focus on specific topics to engage audiences; draft speeches and presentations specifically for customer; and produce complex, high-profile speeches, presentations, and communications for customer. Specific tasks include but are not limited to:
  • Research and write/create new presentations, speeches and communication pieces that address complex and high-profile issues.
  • Meet with the customer on a regular basis. Advise and consult with the customer on messaging and communications strategies.
  • Create in-depth communications on a range of subjects.
  • Produce clear communications through a wide range of styles and formats, including formal speeches, PowerPoint presentations, blogs, videos, letters, articles, op-ed and bylined pieces, and social media channels.
  • Tailor messages to serve the needs of different audiences, including employees, clients, media, social media, students, industry participants, and community organizations. Additionally, messaging should be in coordination with strategic communications plans for OUSD(R&E).
  • Expert in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel as well as with multimedia and social media applications.
  • Coordinate with the R&E executive administrative support to ensure logistics, security clearances, communication, and coordination with contacts at speaking venues and events is accomplished in support of R&E leadership engagements.
  • Provide recommendations on acceptance, de-confliction, and priority of speaking engagements/events in close coordination with the Public Affairs specialist, executive administrative support staff, and government personnel in the OUSD(R&E).

 

Required Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in English, journalism, or communications is required
