About the role

Orthopedic Physician Assistant Fellowship

Location: Atlanta Metro

Duration: 12 Months

Focus: Immersive Clinical Excellence

Are you a certified Physician Assistant looking to fast-track your surgical and clinical expertise? OrthoAtlanta, the largest physician owned orthopedic practice in the region, is seeking motivated PAs for our intensive 12-month Fellowship Program.

This is not a "shadowing" program. We are dedicated to elevating your competency through a high-volume, hands-on curriculum designed to give you a definitive competitive advantage in the marketplace.

Why Choose the OrthoAtlanta Fellowship?

We offer an unparalleled depth of experience. Our mission is to provide you with the technical skills necessary to evaluate and manage the full spectrum of musculoskeletal conditions, from sports medicine and trauma to complex spine surgery.

  • 90% Clinical Immersion: We prioritize real-world experience over classroom lectures.
  • Subspecialty Depth: Rotate through roughly 9 distinct specialties, including hand, joint replacement, and trauma.
  • Surgical Mastery: Develop the skills required to be a premier first assistant in the OR.
  • Tailored Learning: Use elective rotations at the end of the year to deep-dive into your specific areas of interest.

Curriculum Overview

Our program is weighted heavily toward active participation in patient care.

Clinical Curriculum (90%)

You will be integrated into the heart of our practice, spending time in the clinic, emergency room, and operating room. Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing comprehensive histories and physical examinations.
  • Ordering and interpreting plain radiographs.
  • Formulating differential diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Mastering the "art" of closed reductions, casting, and splinting.
  • Managing hospital rounding and supervised ER call.

Didactic Curriculum (10%)

Learning is personalized and high-impact.

  • One-on-One Mentorship: Study directly with preceptors throughout each rotation.
  • Applied Anatomy: Assignments mirror your clinical work (e.g., intensive hand anatomy study during your hand rotation).

Candidate Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current NCCPA certification (or eligibility).
  • A strong work ethic and a desire for an immersive, fast-paced orthopedic environment.
