Phlebotomist, Part Time Days, Pre-Admission Test/ Screening OMC

About the role

Principal Accountabilities:


1. Performs screening tests and reports results. 
2. Assembles equipment, such as tourniquet, needles, disposable containers for needles, blood collection devices, gauze, cotton, and alcohol on work tray, according to requirements for specified tests or procedures. 
3. Verifies or records identity of patient or donor and converses with patient or donor to allay fear of procedure. 
4. Applies tourniquet to arm, locates accessible vein, swabs puncture area with antiseptic, and inserts needle into vein to draw blood into collection tube or bag. 
5. Withdraws needle, applies treatment to puncture site, and labels and stores blood container for subsequent processing. 
7. Conducts interviews, takes vital signs, and draws and tests blood samples to screen donors at blood bank.
8. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
•    High School Diploma or equivalent required
•    Certification from an accredited phlebotomy training program preferred
•    Foreign education credentials require US equivalency documentation by an AHS approved agency.


•    Minimum two (2) years previous job experience as a phlebotomist preferred
•    ASCP, NHA, NPA approved certification in Phlebotomy or defined equivalent preferred
