Physical Design engineers that are looking for a growing startup that will change the landscape of computing will find challenges and opportunities at Lightmatter. Lightmatter is a small company that is building its capacity to develop the latest AI accelerator hardware on the market. Join our team to directly impact our products and contribute to the product roadmap. This position is a great entry point into semiconductors and photonic computing.

As a Physical Design Associate will focus on moderately complex issues related to ASIC infrastructure, automating ASIC Physical Design flows, design and verification flows, and improving CAD infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Support Physical Design at Lightmatter: running Physical Design flows to close blocks, support ASIC infrastructure, automate Physical Design flows, improve CAD infrastructure. 
  • Drive dashboards that show the convergence of projects related to Physical Design
  • Create CAD infrastructure and processes that ensure the CAD tools are up to date
  • Optimize tool flows, working with EDA vendors to incorporate the latest features 
  • Accountable for block level closure 

Requirements

  • PhD in in Electrical Engineering or related field, Masters with 3 years of experience, or Bachelors with 5 years of experience in the semiconductor industry 
  • Strong intellectual curiosity and integrity
  • Experience with Python and TCL
  • Experience running Physical Design flows
  • Excellent communication and verbal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing and implementing power-grid and clock specifications
  • Strong understanding of all aspects of physical construction, integration, and physical verification
  • Knowledge of HDL languages like SystemVerilog and industry standard physical design tools

Base Compensation Range: $120,000 - $150,000. In accordance with the Colorado, California and New York law, the range provided is Lightmatter's reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. Actual pay will be based on several factors, including work experience, location, and education.
