Job Description

Within Gateway Services we are building our next generation omni-commerce Gateway. We are currently hiring a VP level Engineering Leader to lead our teams within Face-to-Face Commerce Domain. In this role you will lead highly technical and strategic engineering initiatives on mission-critical platforms across our team, enabling every engineer to their best work.

Your role will be tasked with solving the most complex, challenging technical problems across this team to meet our demanding needs.

You will play an influential role in partnership with engineering leadership group and other cross-divisional VPs of Engineering owning strategy, technical vision and direction for your teams.

To excel in this role, you will possess:

• With a background in engineering, you will have progressed into leadership roles, including experience managing other managers.
• You will have demonstrable experience in driving results through OKRs and Metrics and be able to talk to the impact you have driven.
• While the team size is 100+ with and $10m+ in budget, at a minimum you will have managed teams of 50+ and budgets of $5m+.
• Possess great instincts and ability to make good judgement calls and execute on those quickly. 
• Possess great communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to influence across teams and with senior stakeholders.
• Ability to drive vision and strategy for our overall architecture to support scale, performance, resiliency and reliability of our platform. 
• Come from a technical background, extremely proficient in microservices architectures, architecture patterns, having created architectures that allow services to be shipped to production multiple times a day as independently releasable microservices. 
• Be able to quickly identify problems with our current state solutions and come to solutions quickly to enable critical delivery to move. 
• An evangelist who can always keep an eye on the future, and in doing so help keep our teams up to speed on the latest and greatest happenings within technology.
• Strong appreciation of Event Storming and DDD having applied these mythologies in shaping microservices architectures.  
• Experience in creating / engineering Cloud Native Architectures. 
• Experience in Point of Sales Terminal Software, SoftPOS, Android Terminal or similar would be extremely beneficial.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience 
• Eight or more years of relevant software engineering experience 
• Five or more years of experience leading a software engineering team

Preferred Skills/Experience:

• Degree in Computer Science or similar technical discipline.
• 15+ years’ experience having come from a software engineering background.
• Some experience with Model Context Protocol / AI having had some experience in how this can shape the future of software engineering.
• Experience in Kotlin, Java and or/ C++ within low latency environments. 
• Experience of chaos engineering and patterns that ensure high uptime and resiliency. 

Location Expectations:

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.
