What’s the role?

The Accounting Analyst is primarily responsible for the general accounting functions of the Carl Zeiss SBE, LLC legal entity of the Consumer Optics business including Photo & Cinema Lenses and Sports Optics portfolio.

Here’s what you’ll do:

Month-End Financial Closings:

• Monitor assigned general ledger accounts.

• Ensure timely completion of required closing journal entries (e.g., commissions, duty freight & insurance, MAP credits).

• Prepare and analyze Monthly Net Sales by division, P&L variance, and headcount reporting.

• Conduct monthly Actual vs. Budget/Forecast reporting and review process with Sales leadership.

• Generate other financial reports as needed.

 Inventory Management:

• Process inventory cycle counts and control inventory.

• Perform GRIR (Goods Receipt/Invoice Receipt) reconciliations.

Sales and Distribution (SD) Customer Service Support:

• Provide support for Paymetric and handle blocked documents.

Report Maintenance:

• Maintain and update various Excel reports (e.g., Gross to Net Sales).

Accounts Receivable:

• Track Amazon deductions and assist A/R Shared Services and Sales Manager with reconciliation.

• Assist Shared Services with business information needed for cash and customer credit applications.

 Accounts Payable:

• Act as backup for A/P coding using SAP workflow.

ADHOC Projects and Reporting:

• Participate in special projects and generate reports as assigned.

Budget and Forecasting:

• Assist with budget and forecast model preparation and input.

Operational and Sales Support:

• Research and support operational and sales teams to ensure SAP transactions are properly recorded in accordance with global guidelines.

Support for Head of Finance and Operations:

• Assist with projects, including SAP implementation support.

Do you qualify?

Education:

• BS/BA in Accounting from an accredited college.

Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in General Accounting.

• Preferred: Background in SAP FICO and MM.

Skills and Abilities:

• Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.

• Excellent customer service skills, with strong written and verbal communication.

• Problem-solving skills with the ability to make recommendations and implement corrective improvements.

• Accountable and responsible, with impeccable follow-through and a strong work ethic.

• Natural curiosity, a continuous improvement mindset, and a willingness to learn.

• Proficiency in a Windows operating environment and MS Office products.

• Self-starter with the ability to research, learn, and thoroughly understand processes.

• Collaborative team player willing to support the finance team’s priorities.

Working Conditions and Special Demands:

• Hybrid work schedule – 3 days in the office/2 days remote.

Compensation:

• The annual pay range for this position is $75,000 – $94,000

The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.

This position is also eligible for a performance bonus or sales commissions.  ZEISS also offers robust benefits, including medical plans, retirement savings plan and paid time off.
