Position Overview:
The Pet Crematorium Operator/Driver is responsible for the safe and respectful handling of
deceased pets, operating the crematorium equipment, and providing transportation services to
and from veterinary clinics and pet owners. This role requires a compassionate demeanor,
attention to detail, and adherence to safety and ethical standards in pet cremation services.
Key Responsibilities:
Safely handle and transport deceased pets from veterinary clinics and private homes to
the crematorium.
Operate cremation equipment, ensuring proper procedures are followed for the safe and
respectful cremation of pets.
Maintain accurate records of cremation services, including tracking of pets and issuing
cremation certificates to clients as needed.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations regarding pet cremation
and waste disposal.
Clean and maintain the crematorium facility and equipment to ensure a safe and sanitary
environment.
Communicate compassionately with pet owners, veterinary staff, and team members
regarding cremation services and processes.
Assist in managing inventory of supplies and materials needed for cremation services.
Provide support for memorial services and assist pet owners with understanding their
options for memorialization.
Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and
knowledge related to pet cremation.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certification in animal care or
cremation services is a plus.
Previous experience in a veterinary setting, pet cremation, or a related field is preferred
but not required.
Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record; ability to operate a vehicle safely and
responsibly.
Compassionate and empathetic demeanor, with a genuine desire to support grieving pet
owners.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in record-keeping and operational
processes.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing time effectively and
responding to emergencies as needed.
Physical ability to lift and handle pets of various sizes and perform manual tasks
associated with cremation operations.
Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to cremation and waste disposal.
