Job Duties include:
With support and supervision, preparing and processing bi-weekly payroll, with a keen eye on the accuracy of final payroll results. Handle classification and compensation adjustments for employees and how benefits are processed internally. Work to ensure payrolls are submitted in a timely manner.

Providing support to human resources in areas including talent acquisition, classification and compensation, retirement, and benefits.

With assistance as needed, research and answer questions relating to State Personnel rules, labor contracts, the employing agency’s personnel policies, and the State’s insurance.

Assist with submitting applications to supervisors, verifying employment histories, and employee recruiting.

Perform traditional basic accounting functions such as posting data; processing deposits; coding vouchers for identification; and posting data to ledgers, journals, and worksheets to establish and maintain records of financial transactions. Training in these areas will be provided to the successful applicant.
Review data on vouchers, invoices, reports, and other documents, files or databases to ensure the information is accurate and complete and in compliance with established agency policies and procedures to identify possible issues.
Review accounting transactions for completeness and accuracy.
Collect and store money in a cash drawer for deposit with the State Treasurer.
Other duties as assigned within the scope of the classification.


 

Requirements / Qualifications:

Minimum Qualification: One year of coursework, training, or academic experience in personnel, business administration, public administration, office/administration, customer service, or two years of combined related experience.

Other: Regular and reliable attendance is expected and required. Looking for motivated people who want to learn and level up.


 

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required:

Introductory knowledge of personnel practices; record maintenance and confidentiality; the ability to understand federal personnel/employment laws; handling standard personnel, payroll, benefits, and related budgeting practices and forms; standard safety and health practices; and general employee relations requirements and practices after training.

Ability to: communicate with your supervisor and other agency employees; operate office equipment; set up and maintain record keeping systems and databases in collaborative efforts; understand and apply agency and state rules; recommend changes to procedures; compile data and prepare summaries of personnel activities.

Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines. Must be able to maintain confidentiality concerning sensitive information.

After on-boarding, a working knowledge of JD Edwards time entry process and WorkDay systems.
