Job Description
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual will participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual will ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to all applicable security regulations.
This individual will assist project teams with technical issues in the Initiation and Planning phases of development. These activities include (but are not limited too) the definition of needs, benefits, and technical strategy; research & development within the project life-cycle; technical analysis and design; and assist in executing, testing and rolling-out the solutions.
Qualified applicants must be detail-oriented, result-driven individuals who can take ownership of a project and can work well with a team and without direct oversight. The applicant must have experience leading an infrastructure team and the planning and design of complex infrastructure systems. They must have good interpersonal skills, as well as good client interaction skills.
Qualifications
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure and support Linux Operating Systems – Redhat/CentOS Linux preferred
- Ability to design and setup complex environment, including Virtualization, Operating systems, Network and Storage
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation, including installation, configuration and operations procedures.
- Ability to work with a team and independently in evolving application infrastructure architecture and make recommendations for improvements
- Perform regular security monitoring to identify any potential problems or vulnerabilities, as well as working with company mandated requirements
- Ability to understand the project’s needs and design various environments and components of those environments
- Assist team to maintain and improve processes for reducing LOE by automation or stream lining processes using DevSecOps standards and technologies
Requirements & Experience Guidelines:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Legal Permanent Resident
- Eligible for U.S. Government Clearance at the Public Trust Level
- Minimum 7 years’ experience with System Administration for Linux/Unix servers
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with Cloud and/or Virtualization technologies, AWS, GCP and VMware preferred
- Experience with Infrastructure and development automation technologies, preferably Jenkins, Ansible and Docker
- Ability to work both independently and as part of the team; flexibility in dealing with assignments and in working on several projects simultaneously; ability to communicate well with people of diverse backgrounds and computer knowledge.
- Strong working knowledge of all aspects of Security, including auditing tools, vulnerability management tools and remediation, frameworks (e.g. CIS, NIST and FISMA) and information system policies
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills to resolve complex infrastructure related problems and working with limited supervision
- Ability to plan and design complex Infrastructure systems and provide guidance and recommendations to management for improvements and updates
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field required
Desired Skills
- Good understanding of all phases of Software Engineering (e.g. Requirements, Design, Implementation, Testing) and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Experience with Government related policies and procedures regarding security, configuration management and/or A&A
- Experience leading an Infrastructure team and/or projects
- Strong knowledge of web technologies, preferably Apache, NGINX and Tomcat
- Familiarity with SQL and/or experience with database technologies such as Postgresql, MySQL or Microsoft SQL Server
