The NC Operator produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control machine. They will maintain quality, setup, and check parts to match print information and safety standards and maintain equipment and supplies. They will be required to demonstrate inventory control on parts related to the area they are assigned.

What you will do:

  • Observes and follow all safety rules

  • Must be willing and able to work overtime as an extension to a normal workday or on weekends, as scheduled

  • Manually set tools and punches as specified by setup sheets, and measure parts according to prints

  • Observe machine operation on the machine

  • CNC programming required setting the machine up, including but not limited to changing specifications and troubleshooting

  • Must work cohesively with machine operators, maintenance, and others

  • Maintain the work area to sustain a clean and orderly environment

  • Ability to manage a manual inventory log

  • Must be proficient in AS400 and Microsoft Office Applications

  • May train other operators

  • Inspect your own parts and be responsible for keeping machine and area clean

Additional Qualifications Include:

  • High school diploma or GED is required and 3 months of related experience and/or training

  • Must pass the Hunter Engineering NC Operator Test

  • Must be a qualified NC Operator

  • Forklift license highly preferred

  • Must be able to operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, motorized pallet jacks, or manual pallet jacks

  • Knowledge of CNC machines

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondences, and memos

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers

  • Ability to read prints, calipers, degree finders, and scales
