Job Description
The University of Nevada, Reno South Area Extension is recruiting for a Community Based Instructor 3 for Clark County. This position is located in Las Vegas. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the community by connecting with older adult participants through engaging educational programs and hands-on experiences.
The successful candidate will help bring programs to life by planning and implementing activities, building community partnerships, maintaining program budgets, coordinating volunteers, and supporting program goals. This role also plays an important part in the 4-H-style overnight and day camps for older adults at Camp Alamo, helping create memorable experiences through camper support, transportation coordination, marketing efforts, and participation in camp activities. Reporting to the HAI Coordinator, this position provides opportunities to build relationships, encourage community engagement, promote programs through outreach and social media, and help expand access to meaningful learning experiences.
Essential Qualifications
This position requires graduation from high school or equivalent education and three (3) years of relevant work experience in areas such as agriculture, horticulture, community development, health and nutrition, human and family development, and natural resources in urban and rural areas; OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience as described above
A valid driver’s license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
A Food Handler Safety Training Certificate is required at the time of appointment.
This position requires candidates to complete a fingerprinting/background check.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with experience teaching both adult and child learners, and involvement with 4-H programs are encouraged to apply. Candidates who understand and speak Spanish are also encouraged to apply.
Schedule
Variable work schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Compensation Grade
Grade 27 (Entry, Step 01)
In classified service, salary is in Grade and Step. The Step is determined based on the Nevada Administrative Code. Salary placement above a Step 01 at initial appointment is determined based on the recruitment, the candidate’s qualifications, internal equity and budgets. A request to accelerate salary must be approved by Human Resources and abide by the Nevada Administrative Code.
