We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our Upstream Engineering Team in Canonsburg, PA. This role supports the design and execution of ironmaking, steelmaking, continuous casting, and related heavy industrial equipment projects across North America.
The ideal candidate has approximately five years of mechanical engineering experience and is ready to take ownership of engineering work packages while developing broader technical leadership capabilities. In addition to mechanical design responsibilities, the successful candidate will coordinate with international engineering teams, suppliers, customers, and site personnel, while progressively assuming greater technical coordination responsibilities within the organization.

Responsibilities
- Support the Lead Engineer in planning, coordinating, and executing assigned engineering scopes.
- Serve as the technical focal point for selected equipment packages or plant areas, coordinating activities with engineering centers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Develop mechanical design packages, specifications, calculations, drawings, bills of material, and supporting technical documentation.
- Ensure engineering deliverables meet project requirements for safety, quality, cost, schedule, manufacturability, and maintainability.
- Perform design reviews and provide technical guidance to ensure engineering quality and consistency.
- Coordinate engineering activities performed by global engineering teams and external engineering partners.
- Evaluate supplier proposals, drawings, and technical documentation to verify compliance with project requirements.
- Support customer meetings, technical clarifications, site investigations, proposal activities, and project kick-off meetings.
- Participate in design reviews, risk reviews, technical coordination meetings, and project execution reviews throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support projects from concept development through detailed engineering, procurement, manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and final customer acceptance.
- Analyze technical deviations, identify root causes, and develop practical corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor assigned engineering scopes against project schedules and budgets and proactively identify and address potential risks.
- Support supplier follow-up, factory inspections, installation activities, commissioning support, and troubleshooting when required.
- Mentor junior engineers and designers and contribute to knowledge sharing, lessons learned, and engineering best practices.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards, work processes, and quality practices.
- Travel domestically and internationally as required to support customer meetings, project kick-offs, engineering coordination activities, installation, and commissioning. Typical travel is expected to be approximately 6 to 8 weeks per year.

Education, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Approximately five years of experience in mechanical engineering for steelmaking, ironmaking, continuous casting, heavy industrial equipment, or similar capital equipment industries.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, and engineered equipment systems.
- Experience developing and reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and bills of material.
