Manages the overall laboratory and operating function to ensure the safe and highly effective operation of research in compliance with regulatory requirements and interaction with other laboratories, vendors and/or participants. Performs, oversees and coordinates complex research projects. This includes, but not limited to, daily activities for operational functions, grants, contracts, funding and proposal submissions for work completed in the Bateman Laboratory and SILQ Center.Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Serves as advanced partner with principal investigator, delivering results of the highest complexity. Participates with designs, performance, and evaluation of research procedures.
Provides significant contributions when assisting with grant preparation and journal article submission.
Develops and implements policies and procedures. Provides comprehensive direction to laboratory personnel along with coaching development and proper guidance.
Hires, trains and evaluates the performance of laboratory personnel. Manages research staff in area of concentration that is of the largest size, complexity, and scope relative to WashU Medicine research laboratories.
Directs all support activities of the lab including human resources, budgets, facility maintenance, purchasing, supplies, materials and equipment.
Responsible for providing cost-effective innovation and development in areas of best practices, quality assurance, safety and compliance. Researches and recommends new methods and procedures to maintain current capabilities, quality and standards.

Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

$72,900.00 - $132,200.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University.
