Senior Pricing Actuary – ART Casualty (North America)

Role Summary
AXIS Capital is seeking a highly skilled Senior Pricing Actuary to support the growth and profitability of its Alternative Risk Transfer (ART) portfolio within North American casualty lines.
This role partners closely with underwriting to deliver actuarial insight across bespoke and complex structured risk solutions.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in pricing, structuring, and monitoring ART transactions while ensuring alignment with AXIS’s risk appetite, capital strategy, and client value proposition.
Key Responsibilities
Pricing & Deal Support
- Lead pricing analysis for ART casualty transactions
- Develop and refine stochastic and deterministic pricing models for low-frequency / high-severity risks
- Evaluate deal structures, cash flows, and profitability under various stress and scenario assumptions
- Collaborate with underwriting to structure transactions that meet client needs while achieving target returns
Portfolio & Performance Management
- Monitor profitability and performance of ART casualty portfolio across North America
- Conduct experience studies, reserve adequacy reviews, and profitability analyses
- Provide actionable insights on rate adequacy, attachment points, limits, and retention structures
Capital & Risk Analytics
- Assess capital requirements and return metrics for ART deals
- Interface with enterprise risk management (ERM) to quantify tail risk and aggregation exposure
- Support internal model validation and regulatory capital considerations
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a trusted advisor to underwriting, brokers, and clients on actuarial aspects of transactions
- Present pricing recommendations and deal economics to senior management and governance committees
- Work with finance and reserving teams to ensure consistency between pricing and financial reporting
Innovation & Process Improvement
- Enhance pricing tools, data pipelines, and automation capabilities for ART business
- Contribute to development of new structured solutions and innovative risk transfer products
- Stay abreast of market trends, emerging risks, and regulatory developments in ART and casualty insurance
Qualifications & Experience
- Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS) or equivalent
- 8-12+ years of actuarial experience, with strong exposure to casualty pricing and ART
- Proven experience in pricing complex or non-standard risks using advanced analytical methods
- Deep understanding of casualty lines (e.g., general liability, excess casualty, workers’ compensation)
- Experience with capital modeling, stochastic techniques, or financial structuring preferred
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency in actuarial and statistical tools (e.g., Python, R, SAS, or equivalent)
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities
- Experience with simulation techniques (e.g., Monte Carlo) and cash flow modeling
- Familiarity with insurance accounting, reserving concepts, and capital frameworks
