Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies (CTCT) is a joint venture between Caterpillar Inc. and Trimble Inc. This division develops positioning, control and automation products for earthmoving, excavation, paving, and building construction machines in the construction and mining industries, using technologies such as GNSS, inertial, optical total stations, lasers, and sonics. The products are used in a range of applications where the operator of the machine benefits from having accurate horizontal and vertical guidance and control.

What You Will Do
CTCT currently has a job opening for a Quality Manager for the CTCT Quality team. The CTCT Quality team works in a dynamic global environment that supports a hybrid work schedule and flexible work hours. This position will have direct accountability for the following areas: Proactive/Reactive Quality Strategy, Product Support, Continuous Product Improvement (CPI), Assurance of Supply, and the Failure Analysis lab. This role will provide direct managerial support for employees working in these areas, as well as, be a champion for the voice of customer and business that is realized from these critical value streams. The Quality Manager will help to set and drive the vision for these functional areas in support of the CTCT Quality Management System. The position will also ensure the areas of accountability are working seamlessly together, as well as across the other functional CTCT disciplines, to support the goals and desired outcomes of the CTCT business. ​ 

  • Leader of leaders over the following areas:

  • Reactive Quality - Product Support, Failure Analysis Lab, Continuous Product Improvement processes.

  • Proactive Quality - Product development risk management process owner.

  • Assurance of Supply - supply chain management. 

  • Influence, evolve, and educate the broader CTCT organization and supply base partners, driving product/process development risk management excellence.

  • Ensure end to end supply chain performance and delivery to Tier I supplier level expectations.

  • Work with supply base partners on reactive quality execution meeting Tier I supplier level expectations.

What Skills & Experience You Should Bring

  • Requires a degree in engineering (electrical or mechanical engineering desired)

  • Strong history and level of experience in Hardware, Software, and System product development and product lifecycle management.

  • Deep understanding and practical experience in quality assurance and lab analysis processes.  Ex.  RCCA, FMEA, 8D, etc.

  • Six Sigma methodology understanding and execution experience. 

  • Understanding and experience with manufacturing processes for mechanical and electrical components. 

Leadership:

  • Skilled in strategy development and execution.

  • Ability to balance and optimize strategic vs tactical actions.

  • Experienced in leading direct teams and influencing indirect teams.

  • Strong change management and communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively across a global organization.

  • Business level proactive and reactive quality metric accountability.

Critical Thinking, Decision Making:

  • Ability to assess product lifecycle based trade off decision making and impact management.

  • Courage to make challenging decisions in high pressure situations.

  • Skilled in using and applying decision making tools/methods, 5 Why, Fishbone and Boundary Diagrams, Carry Over Analysis, etc.

Influencing:

  • Leads and presents data driven collaborative assessments. 

  • Recognizes and adjusts communication based on audience and desired outcome.

  • Rewards results, recognizes hard work, and addresses performance.

Quality Risk Management:

  • Demonstrable skills in risk based thinking and decision making.

  • Ability to identify and drive mitigation across the four categories of risk - Viability, Feasibility, Usability, Value. 

  • Accountable for the CTCT Quality Management System

  • The primary location for this position is Peoria, IL. / Dayton, OH.

  • Other locations will be considered.

  • Relocation is available for this position.

  • <25% travel is required for this position.
