Position Overview

The Illinois State Police strives for excellence seeking to be one of the premier policing agencies in the country. Our core values are Integrity, Service and Pride. Under the Office of the Director, the FOID Card Review Board is responsible for providing a relief mechanism for individuals with firearms prohibitors while balancing this process with public safety. Advises petitioners on various requirements and procedures relating to petitions for review filed with the FOID Card Review Board . Coordinates the intake of document review requests and tracking such receipt as well as the FOID Card Review Board’s response in a case management database. Maintains records regarding relief granted or denied in response to petitions for review.  Performs liaison work as a representative of the Executive Director, with the Illinois State Police Firearms Services Bureau. Assigns and reviews work and reassigns staff to meet day‐to‐day operating needs, approving time off requests. Essential Functions

  • Under general direction of the Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) Card Review Board, serves as a representative of the FOID Card Review Board with members of the public and their legal representatives as it pertains to the FOID Card Review Board’s Petition for Review procedures.
  • Assists in the effectuation of consideration of Petitions for Review filed with the FOID Card Review Board and the execution of hearings before the FOID Card Review Board.
  • Functions as a staff assistant to the Executive Director of the FOID Card Review Board, participating in the analysis of existing operations and systems to make recommendations lead
