Position Summary:

The Supply Chain Purchasing intern will work with the supply chain team, including helping to coordinate the expediting of the materials and equipment for jobsites. The team is comprised of logistics, warehousing and expediting professionals working hand in hand with our client to ensure timely deliveries and communication of market conditions; Exposure to mitigation planning is a benefit.

 

Salary Range: $19.97-28.32 an hour

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  •  Assist expeditors, logistics coordinators, and warehouse managers with routine project tasks and documentation.
  •  Provide basic administrative and project support to Project Teams and Operations.
  •  Observe and participate in activities across the full construction supply chain lifecycle—from planning through project closeout.
  •  Support preparation of status updates and presentations for internal leadership; assist with compiling data for client-facing reports.
  •  Help gather information needed to support long-lead equipment decisions and purchasing activities.
  •  Monitor and record lead times, market updates, and vendor communications related to fabrication and shipments.
  •  Flag potential impacts to fabrication or shipment timelines for review by senior supply chain staff.
  •  Assist with maintaining accurate data and records for current and historical equipment information.

 

Qualifications:

Professional Experience and Education

  •  Exposure to world commodity indexes
  •  Interest in learning about expediting, equipment tracking, and logistics processes.
  •  Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  •  Ability to stay organized and maintain professionalism in a fast-paced work environment
  •  Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  •  Detail-oriented with the ability to support multiple tasks or projects
  •  Self-starter with adaptability and a willingness to learn with guidance.
  •  Strong team player, adaptable, and able to work with minimal instruction
  •  Prior experience in the construction industry preferred
  •  Familiarity with tools such as Smartsheet, Oracle, or Procore is helpful but not required.
  •  Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office 365; willingness to learn additional project or document management systems.

 

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  •  Standing/Walking/Sitting: Workday is combination of sitting/walking and standing.
  •  Legs: Must be able to climb stairs - 20% of day.
  •  Hands/Arms: Constant use of hands/fingers for mouse/keyboard/computer use.
  •  Vision: Visual acuity in near, mid and far range vision. Color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, hand/eye coordination.
  •  Hearing: Sufficient to hear conversational levels in person and over the telephone and radio; sufficient to hear alarms on equipment.
  •  Speech: Sufficient to make oneself heard in person, speak in front of groups, and be understood over the telephone and radio.
  •  Lift/Carry: Up to 50lb computer/drawings- minimal.
  •  Bending/Twisting: Minimal.
  •  Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: Minimal.
  •  Constant mental alertness, accuracy, and attention to detail required.
