Position Overview
Yahoo is seeking an experienced and strategic corporate communications professional to drive campaigns to communicate Yahoo’s value proposition and business priorities to press, consumers, partners and investors. During a time of transformation, this role will find and tell compelling stories that highlight our progress, business practices, leaders and innovations as well as safeguard the company’s reputation. Reporting into the Vice President of Corporate Communications, this individual will work closely with the executive leadership team as well as key stakeholders across ads, people, finance, legal, public affairs, business development, diversity and culture, and the broader communications team in the US and internationally. This role will help shape how our business, policies, partnerships and people are perceived by audiences around the globe, from consumers to advertisers to partners.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute a proactive corporate reputation strategy that promotes Yahoo’s mission and capabilities to relevant stakeholders, consumers, businesses and future investors.
Shape and drive executive communications strategy for key company spokespeople, focused on the health of the business and the state of the industry.
Support issues management and crisis response, including proactive strategic planning and providing counsel to senior and C-level executives.
Manage media relations, including crafting media materials, preparing for press interviews and building relationships across business, financial and international press.
Drive corporate campaigns from concept formulation, message development to execution and results-oriented evaluation.
Provide ongoing strategic counsel, messaging and positioning guidance to key stakeholders, internally and externally.
Keep a pulse on industry and regulatory trends, opinion leaders, and stories and act as an always-on thought partner across cross-functional teams.
Qualifications:
12+ years of relevant experience in an agency or in-house role.
Proven experience in corporate communications, preferably in the technology or digital media industry.
Track record of driving effective communications strategy within a rapidly-scaling, fast-paced consumer technology environment.
Experience managing communications campaigns around corporate acquisitions, organizational changes or other financial events.
Successful track record managing communications strategies that bring a business to the center of thought leadership, highlight corporate acquisitions, financial events, etc.
Strong relationships, on-the-record experience and credibility with key business, trade and tech media outlets.
Ability to work effectively with external agencies to know where Yahoo should show up and when.
Demonstrated track record of building narratives around the unit economics and growth of the company.
A natural collaborator and communicator who appreciates the importance of building strong and enduring relationships internally and externally.
