Independently performs the design, development, and integration of automation solutions to improve the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of IT systems and services. This includes automation of infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, deployment pipelines, monitoring, and related developer enablement capabilities. Collaborates closely with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and other technical teams to deliver robust, secure, and maintainable solutions. Provides technical leadership, documentation, and training to support adoption and sustainability of automation practices.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  • Leads the design, development, and implementation of automation solutions across infrastructure, deployment, monitoring, and configuration management domains.
  • Develops Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management solutions using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and HELM.
  • Automates deployment pipelines and testing processes to reduce manual effort and improve release quality.
  • Collaborates with SREs, developers, and enterprise architects to identify automation opportunities and deliver scalable solutions.
  • Participates in vendor engagements to evaluate tools, address issues, and advocate for feature enhancements.
  • Documents automation processes and conducts training sessions, workshops, and demos to promote best practices.
  • Supports on-call rotations and maintenance windows by automating repetitive tasks and addressing escalations.
  • Participates in postmortems and continuous improvement efforts to enhance system reliability and team efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) or equivalent – Required

Work Experience

  • 4+ years of experience designing and developing automation and application hosting architectures, with a strong emphasis on configuration management (Windows/Linux), Kubernetes, and infrastructure automation – Required

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong ability to design scalable, secure, performant, and cost-effective automation solutions – Required
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation tools such as Python, Jenkins DSL, Groovy, Bash, PowerShell – Required
  • Experience with IaC and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, HELM) – Required
  • Strong knowledge of application/data security best practices – Required
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams – Required
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment – Required
  • Experience working in Agile environments using tools like Azure DevOps – Preferred
  • Familiarity with vendor management and tool evaluation processes – Preferred

Compensation Range:

$104,350.00 - $155,350.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
