Job Overview
The Division of Cardiovascular Health and Diseases is recruiting a full time Sr. Research Assistant. This position will work under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) on sponsored research projects. The individual will work independently on performing standard and complex laboratory procedures in the field of therapeutic ultrasound and cardiac biology with hands-on specialization in rodent cardiac models of myocardial infarction. The position will require performing animal husbandry and small animal surgery in compliance with all appropriate regulations. Successful candidate will be expected to exhibit individual initiative, work independently; be technically proficient and accurate; effectively communicate in both written reports and presentations; initiate and ensure compliance with applicable safety procedures; possess excellent attention to detail; and be willing to learn new techniques and skills.
Essential Functions
- Independently perform experiments and records data according to research protocols.
- May maintain and oversee animal colony management and animal husbandry.
- Solve problems using combined research knowledge.
- Analyze research results. Interpret data and assist in judging validity of data.
- Organize data search and analysis procedures.
- Assist in establishing test controls, criteria and research standards.
- Assist with the design of complex data processing systems to analyze research data.
- Accomplish assigned results for projects/studies, or for significant aspects of larger, complex assignments.
- Serve as seasoned professional.
- May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).

Required Education
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
Required Experience
- Three (3) years of relevant experience.
- Additional related work experience may be required depending on field or discipline.
