About the role

Description

The University of Washington’s School of Medicine, Department of Medicine, Division of Medical Genetics is recruiting a full-time (100% FTE) Assistant, Associate, or full Professor, WOT (without tenure by reason of funding) on the Clinician-Scholar track, to serve as Medical Director, UW Genetic Medicine Clinic and Program Director, Medical Genetics Residency Program.

Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34.  Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Associate and Professor WOT hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW’s Faculty Code Section 24-34. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2026.

The successful candidate will be expected to lead our nationally recognized clinical program. Duties will include primarily outpatient clinical responsibilities, with some inpatient clinical work at UW Medical Center Montlake or UW Medical Center Northwest Hospital. The successful candidate will work with and teach students and trainees, including medical students and medical genetics residents.  Administrative responsibilities will include serving on Division, Department, and/or hospital committees, serving as Medical Director, UW Genetic Medicine Clinic, and serving as the Program Director, Medical Genetics Residency Program and support our joint Pediatric-Medical Genetics residency. The faculty member will work closely with the Division Head in the Division of Medical Genetics. All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

Salary

The base salary range for this position will be $25,000-$30,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Qualifications

 

  • M.D. or D.O. or foreign equivalent.
  • Board certified in Clinical Genetics by the start date of the appointment.
  • Demonstrated record or research and publication.
  • Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Washington & eligible for DEA licensure.
  • In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S,) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
