Job Summary

We are looking for a Senior Staff Platform Engineer to join our highly skilled and globally distributed Platform Infrastructure Engineering team, designing solutions for monitoring, troubleshooting, and obtaining telemetry from our Equinix worldwide network. 
The ideal candidate will have experience in designing and developing robust architectures that handle large-scale data, establishing standards and guidance for engineering teams, and ensuring the quality of the platform. We are looking for someone with a passion for delivering efficient, automated, and high‑performing systems globally at scale, while following agile methodologies. 

 

Responsibilities 

• Drive infrastructure automation for configuration management of 2,000+ VMs and 600+ on‑premises servers, ensuring consistency across distributed Equinix regions. 

• Collaborate with global teams (AMER, EMEA, and APAC) on security, networking, and platform standards. 

• Implement GitOps practices for deployments and drift management. 

• Build and maintain strong relationships with internal customers and product stakeholders to design effective and scalable solutions. 

• Work with technical project managers and product management teams to define and plan multiple projects. 

• Participate in on‑call shifts with clear processes and support. 

 

Skills & Experience 

• Strong experience managing on‑premises Linux‑based server infrastructure at scale with configuration management tools such as Puppet, Ansible, is required. 

• Strong experience with Proxmox and/or VMware. 

• Experience with Kubernetes. 

• Experience working with distributed systems. 

• Familiarity with observability tools like Prometheus and Grafana. 

• Deep proficiency in Linux systems. 

• Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g. QEMU, KVM, LXC, Docker). 

• Experience with networking and routing is desirable. 

• Experience with secrets management processes and tooling, such as HashiCorp Vault. 

• Experience with CI/CD tooling (e.g. ArgoCD, Argo Rollouts, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
