Job Description

The position exists to provides accounts receivable processing (billings, payment plans, and collections); student payroll processing; and customer service for students, internal third-party stakeholders, and external stakeholders. The scope and volume of work requires proficiency with multiple databases to coordinate timely processing, workflows, reporting, and process improvement.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Maintain accounts receivable calendar and department work plan related to third-party billing and collection.

  • Monitor the Student Billing email account to ensure timely processing and responses.

  • Coordinate and monitor third-party authorizations from various entities.

  • Coordinate student payment plan data workflow and processing (Nelnet). 

  • Troubleshoot posting and collection filing discrepancies. Communicate to applicable party to resolve the discrepancies.

  • Work closely with purchasing and other Minneapolis College departments to process billing for income contracts and services provided by Minneapolis College.

  • Collaborate with Business Services personnel in monitoring the accounts receivable email account.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of accounts receivable and computerized billing systems sufficient to enter and access information and identify and correct errors.

  • Sufficient in accounting skills to reconcile differences between invoices, receipts, and purchase orders, and assess needs based on data and events affecting the account.

  • Sufficient in math skills to calculate, review and reconcile financial data and balance accounts. Make changes, apply simple formulas, calculate account balances owed and amounts owed.

  • Ability to communicate in a variety of formats to gather and relay information with tact and diplomacy.

  • Ability to manage and address external and internal customers, clients and co-workers concerns tactfully and thoroughly.

  • Demonstrates an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency. Incorporates culturally responsive practices, and actively engages in antiracism professional development learning opportunities.

Current and former employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College to be considered for the position.

Work Shift

Mondays to Fridays 8:00am - 4:30pm

Telework

This position may be eligible for partial telework per the Minneapolis College's Telework Guidelines.

Pay Range

Accounting Technician: $22.57 - $31.89 hourly / $47,126 – $66,586 annually.
