About the role:
We are seeking a Staff Product Manager who will head the product management activities and strategic leadership with focus on multiomics and product enablement within the Chromium platform. This role will be customer centric and will help shape the product roadmap, requirements, prioritization, and commercialization strategy across new product introductions. This role will have deep market insights and intelligence of market drivers, market size, product positioning, unmet customer needs, and key players that can provide inputs to the global strategy for Chromium. The candidate will focus on product enablement activities that span across sample prep, automation and partnership management and will have a deep understanding of single cell applications such as CRISPR screens, immune profiling, and protein and epigenetic profiling.
In this role, the individual must be a self-starter, strategic thinker, action and output driven, thrive in a fast-paced environment, excel at managing multiple priorities,, and succeed in communicating with all levels within the organization and within customer institutions.
What you will be doing:
- Have a deep understanding of the global market landscape for Life Science tools and services, in the context of next gen sequencing and adjacent tool adoption.
- Be highly technically proficient in the current tools and methods employed by single cell researchers
- Deep knowledge of applications such as CRISPR screens, immune profiling, epigenetic and protein profiling
- Lead and manage single cell automation product strategy
- Drive and maintain effective collaboration with partners that offer products that are compatible with the Chromium workflows including sequencing, protein and sample prep
- Maintain, develop, and communicate a deep knowledge of market trends, customer needs, and competitive activity throughout the organization with focus on sample preparation and multiomics applications
- Assess technology updates across immune, protein and epigenetic profiling and functional genetic screening applications
- Be able to analyze and communicate market size, share, growth, and competition as well as status quo techniques and technologies
- Work closely with R&D teams to define product requirements, use cases, and user needs
- Define key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of product enablement initiatives. Regularly track and report on KPIs to assess the impact of marketing efforts and identify areas of improvement
- Establish mechanisms for gathering feedback from customers, sales teams, and other stakeholders to continuously improve products and enhance the overall customer experience.
- Develop and deliver product training sessions for internal teams, partners, and customers to ensure a deep understanding of product features, benefits, and value proposition.
- Develop and implement strategies to educate customers about product features, benefits, and best practices. This may involve creating user guides, tutorials, webinars, and other educational resources.
- Reports to senior management on product performance and business needs
- Serve as primary customer advocate during single cell product development; drives tradeoff decisions
- Strong and effective leadership experience with the passion to inspire, motivate, coach, and nurture a team.
Minimum Qualifications
- PhD/MS degree in a relevant scientific field (immunology, CRISPR, protein, epigenetics) or significant lab experience in relevant applications
- 6 years of industry experience desired.
- Extensive domain knowledge in life sciences, biotech, and pharma
- Domain knowledge in NGS & single cell sequencing is preferred
- Experience creating financial models and business cases, strong Excel skills
- Experience conducting market research and developing detailed product requirements
- Understanding of market trends, market segmentation, customer needs, technologies, and competitor products
- Must be collaborative and a team player who knows how to leverage other functions of the organization
- Ability to effectively communicate and influence internal and external audiences, using both oral and written communication skills
- Experience managing products across multiple product portfolios
- Demonstrated ability to develop long-term product strategies and conceptualize individual products within large portfolio
- Willing to travel up to 25%
