Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position has the administrative and leadership responsibilities for multiple community health programs at FDOH – Marion including but not limited to Health Education, School Health, Overdose Data to Action (OD2A), Healthy Start, and the Mobile Health Unit.  Plans and directs the operation of community health operations and outreach efforts at the FL DOH in Marion County.  Responsible for the supervision of staff Including appraisals, planning and directing their work, approving leave, having the authority for hiring, and taking disciplinary action or effectively recommending such actions.

     

Ensures compliance with all program requirements and professional standards. Supervises direct reports including motivating, training, providing guidance, and direction. Develops expectations and meets with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, and discipline action, if needed. Maintains vacation and work schedules to ensure proper coverage and completes timesheets.  Ensures all staff complete required training and are offered additional training. Shares oversight of Government Operations Consultant II position for the OD2A program with Citrus County for collaborative efforts on overdose and substance exposed newborn prevention.

 

Works positively and collaboratively according to DOH policy, assuring optimal, equitable distribution of work and responsibilities to produce maximal quality, effectiveness, efficiency and cost effectiveness. Monitors/evaluates effects of programs to assure attainment of desired results. Participates in Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance activities and audits for all programs under direct supervision.  Keeps supervisor apprised of progress. 

 

Represents the FDOH–Marion and Department of Health with community groups, the public, media and other agencies/coalitions in a positive, professional, responsible manner. Seeks incorporation of community resources toward public health needs of the community.  Participates in the CHD Executive Leadership. 

 

Participates in the development of the budget and budget monitoring all programs under direct supervision. Develops and proposes solutions for any trends or problems challenging available resources. Seeks additional sources of funding in line with County Health Department strategic plan and goals, addressing community public health needs through grant proposals.

 

Remains current with applicable DOH policies, Florida statutes and administrative codes. Responsible for securing the designated information sets for the purpose of protecting confidentiality data integrity and appropriate access, for all information, both confidential and public record, hard copy or electronic format. 

 

Performs other related duties as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of public health systems, planning, and administration. Knowledge and familiarity with PHAB standards, measures, and domains.  Knowledge and understanding of agency policies, processes, procedures, mission, vision, and values. Knowledge of community partners and community needs.
