We are seeking a Senior Plumbing Project Engineer to join our team in the Philadelphia office.
The Senior Plumbing Engineer should have extensive experience in the design of buildings of various degrees and complexity. As a leader of the team, this position supervises and performs all phases of the design and construction process and mentoring the junior staff.
Essential Functions
- Work directly with client to establish design criteria. Develop design concepts based on the client’s goals and budget expectations.
- Develop overall system design. Assure project compliance with codes and standards.
- Produce effective proposals and make presentations.
- Perform plumbing and fire suppression design calculations, equipment selections, and/or review calculations and equipment selections performed by project designer.
- Perform existing system evaluations and assessments.
- Write project specifications.
- Manage project discipline staff, budget, and assignments.
- Maintain project quality assurance, coordination with other trades.
- Survey existing conditions and perform field reviews, investigations, processing of submittals during construction phase.
- Supervise and manage other people to perform different tasks at the same time while maintaining project schedules and budgets.
- Mentor junior designers to develop them into experienced engineers.
- Stay abreast of state-of-the-art design through independent reading, attendance of seminars and continuing education. Participate in design, analysis, and documentation training as listed in the Discipline Training guidelines.
- Manage and maintain client and contractor relationships.
- Travel required for presentations, client meeting etc.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering or Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology
- Registered P.E. in at least one state preferred
- 10 years of relevant experience
- Understanding of engineering calculations and sprinkler hydraulic calculations
- Knowledge of AutoCAD/Revit software
- Knowledge of current codes and practices
- Microsoft Office
