Katke Golf Course is seeking a responsible and driven student leader to serve as the Golf Operations Student Manager. This role is ideal for a student enrolled in Ferris State University’s PGA Golf Management (PGM) Program who has completed at least one year in the program and a prior internship. The Golf Operations Student Manager will play a critical role in supporting day-to-day operations, supervising student staff, and contributing to the success of golf course programming, merchandising, and customer service.

  Position Requirements:

• Enrollment in Ferris State University’s PGA Golf Management Program
• Completion of at least one year in the PGM program
• Completion of a PGM internship
• Leadership ability and team management experience
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Passion for golf and commitment to professional excellence
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and may work holidays.

  Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Assist the Pro Shop Manager with merchandise receiving, inventory management, pricing, and invoicing
• Maintain professional, clean, and organized merchandise displays
• Support and supervise student staff in front desk operations, including tee time bookings, customer check-ins, and general customer service
• Assist with student staffing schedules and shift coordination.
• Outside Operations Management- Includes range set up and keeping it clean throughout the day, range picking, cleaning and restocking golf balls, Cart Barn cleaned and organized
• Oversee daily cart staging, cleaning, and charging
• Supervise students with the setup, maintenance, and breakdown of the driving range
• Coordinate range ball collection and ensure outside areas are clean and guest-ready
• Lead and delegate tasks to outside student staff team members
• Assist in the planning and execution of golf events, including:
  • High School tournaments
  • PGA Playing Ability Tests (PATs)
  • Leagues and corporate outings
  • Manage event setup, scoring, pace of play, and on-course logistics
• Work with the Pro Shop Manager on financial reports to understand operational impacts on revenue and expenses
• Identify areas for process improvement and propose practical solutions to enhance course performance, in guidance from the Pro Shop Manager.
