The Vice President of Service – Industrial Refrigeration is responsible for providing executive leadership and strategic direction to the service operations division. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality maintenance, repair, and service solutions for industrial refrigeration systems while maximizing client satisfaction, safety, and profitability. The VP leads service teams, drives operational excellence, and expands market presence through client relationships and innovative service offerings.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute strategic plans for the industrial refrigeration service division.
- Lead and mentor service managers, technicians, and support staff.
- Collaborate with executive leadership on company-wide growth and customer satisfaction initiatives.
Service Operations Management
- Oversee day-to-day service operations including preventive maintenance, repairs, and emergency response.
- Ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs), safety standards, and industry regulations.
- Implement best practices for scheduling, dispatching, and resource allocation.
- Monitor and improve response times, service quality, and customer satisfaction metrics.
Client Relationships & Business Development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
- Support sales teams with service proposals and customer presentations.
- Identify opportunities for new service offerings, contract growth, and market expansion.
Financial Management
- Manage division P&L, budgets, and forecasts.
- Monitor financial performance and implement cost control measures.
- Ensure accurate billing, contract renewals, and profitability of service agreements.
Operational Excellence & Safety
- Promote a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and enforce policies, training, and safety programs.
- Ensure technicians follow best practices in ammonia and Freon refrigeration systems.
- Drive efficiency through technology adoption and process improvement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive experience in service operations within the industrial refrigeration, HVAC, or related mechanical service industry.
- At least 5 years of leadership experience in a senior operational role.
- Strong technical knowledge of industrial refrigeration systems, including ammonia and CO₂ applications.
- Experience managing large field service teams across multi-site locations.
- Proficiency in service management software and ERP systems.
- Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and leadership skills.
Preferred Certifications
- RETA Certification (CIRO, CARO)
- IIAR Membership and compliance knowledge
- OSHA 30 Certification
