Job Description:

This is an entry level position in this classification series. Within the areas described in the primary job function, completes assignments with close supervision. Supervisor instructs technician as to the solution and selection of the proper procedure to follow. This position is located in Torrance, CA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Assists with research on existing infrastructure using databases, maps, drawings, photos, and paper files

• Communicates with Cal Water employees from other groups, departments, and districts to collect data, complete requests, and coordinate as necessary

• Operates a provided company vehicle for travel to field locations

• Participates in Continuous Improvement (CI) activities to improve all aspects of the Company's operations

• Responsible for personal safety at all times

• Properly documents work and maintain records in databases and paper files

• Performs basic arithmetic based on established guidelines

• Supports engineers, field staff and other technicians in completing field work

• Operates specific hardware such as large format printers and scanners

• Visits field sites to obtain data, measurements, and/or GPS coordinates

• Records Management

• Follows Cal Water standard procedures and processes to complete work

• Performs other duties as assigned as appropriate for the classification

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) equivalent

• Valid California Class C Driver’s License

• Experience with job related software and hardware

• Depending on the Primary Job Function, this may include Computer-Aided Design Software, surveying equipment, Enterprise Asset Management Software, Global Positioning System devices, Geographic Information software, or financial software

Salary Range: $40.70 - $45.91
