The Disaster Events Manager Position
Sunnova Energy is searching for Disaster Events Manager to be responsible for designing and executing the company’s Disaster Response and Preparedness Plan to ensure business continuity for all aspects of the business including operation of Sunnova’s distributed fleet of solar, storage and other assets and continuity of administrative functions of the business for unannounced and unpredictable events. The Disaster Events Manager role includes coordination in advance of, during, and post disaster of information and documentation necessary to manage the work efficiently, sourcing supplies and equipment, and sourcing and organization of labor. The Disaster Events Manager will coordinate the daily critical processes to restore business operations, including operation of solar, storage, and other customer assets in the event of a natural or man-made disaster that’s creates a disruption of normal business activities for Sunnova, its Dealers or customers.

Disaster Events Manager Responsibilities

  • Develops, reviews, and updates the Disaster Response Plan
  • Creates and provides routine reporting to management of operational status and projections throughout all events
  • Document the criteria to determine disaster levels for different types of disaster events
  • Establishes disaster event monitoring systems with the meteorologist, production engineers, and other teams
  • Conducts hazard and response planning for various scenarios and geographies
  • Conducts regular testing of Disaster Response Plan to validate plans and ensure operational readiness
  • Identifies essential personnel and assigned tasks for each phase, event and geography covered by the Disaster Response Plan.
  • Leads efforts to prepare for the various event types for sudden and unexpected situations, including identifying resources, assets and personnel needed to respond to events and effect operational recovery
  • Leads recovery efforts through implementation of the Disaster Response Plan, oversight and management of resources, projects, and activities during an event to achieve operational recovery
  • Communicates clearly across business internal and external functional teams in predictive project planning and event project execution
  • Works independently without requiring considerable direction

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree Business Management, Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, Emergency Management, or relevant 5-10 years’ experience in Disaster/Emergency Recovery planning and management.
  • Ability to move priorities forward, takes ownership of responsibilities with little supervision in a matrixed organization
  • Aptitude to effectively communicate, both verbal and written, with peers, senior management, and partners
  • In-depth knowledge of business continuity planning.
  • Ability to foster and participate in a productive team environment by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with co-workers, managers, customers, contractors, and vendors
  • Technical writing experience for reports, plans, and other related documents.
  • Proficient computer applications experience with MS-Office Suite (excel, word, outlook, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of Disaster Recovery or Incident Command Center operations training and/or education.
  • Self-starter with demonstrated performance leading initiatives and building consensus at all levels of a matrixed global organization
  • Strategic Planning experience. Reviewing and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data and information.
