About the role

Makes patient appointments according to provider schedule protocol.

2. Makes patient appointment reminder calls and reschedules patients as needed.

3. Greets and registers or checks in all patients who arrive at the practice or clinic. Verifies demographic information and enters it into the patient record. Maintains confidentiality of all patient information.

4. Verifies insurance coverage information and collects co-pays or other payments.

5. Prepares daily cash reconciliation and prepares daily deposit and reconciliation report.

6. Receives and relays messages between providers and patients and logs them accurately according to practice protocol in the proper messaging record system.

7. Provides other clerical support to the practice office including typing correspondence and reports, sorting and delivering mail, processing incoming and outgoing faxes and ordering and maintaining supplies.

8. Prepares reports as needed to monitor patient and practice information.

9. May also check out patients at the end of their appointment and schedule the appropriate follow-up appointment(s).

10. May complete patient referrals, pre-authorizations and/or pre-certifications for testing and medication as directed by the provider or practice manager.

11. May assist with the completion of FMLA, Worker’s Comp or other disability paperwork for patients needing physician documentation of illness.
