We are currently hiring for our summer programing. The position is seasonal working up to 40 hours per week. The anticipated start date is June 8, 2026.

Hourly Rate: $29.06/hour - $39.22/hour
Work Schedule: Sunday - Saturday, up to 40 hours/week
Work hours: Between the hours of 5:30AM – 9:00PM
Part-Time, Seasonal, Hourly, Non-Exempt Position
Work Location: We operate multiple pools within the district. Work location will be assigned after you are hired.
Anticipated Start Date: June 8, 2026
Duration: Summer season will run from June 8 to August 14
Not to exceed 960 hours per fiscal year. (July 1 – June 30)

POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision from the Recreation Supervisor, provides leadership and program responsibility in all operations at assigned facilities including swim lessons, recreational swim, water safety classes, aquatics summer camps, and staff development.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Receives direct or general supervision from assigned supervisory or management personnel. Exercises general supervision and provides training to other staff.
This is the advanced journey-level classification in the Lifeguard classification series responsible for providing lead direction and training to lower-level staff and for ensuring that the District’s aquatics facilities are maintained in a safe and effective working condition. This classification is distinguished from the Senior Water Safety Instructor by the assignment of more complex tasks requiring a greater level of technical and specialized knowledge and a higher degree of independent judgment, including serving in a lead capacity over lower level staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Incumbents may not perform all duties. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
All duties and responsibilities of a Lifeguard, Water Safety Instructor, Head Lifeguard, and Senior Water Safety Instructor
Plans, leads, assigns, directs, and participates in the work of staff responsible for performing lifeguard duties at the District’s aquatics facilities; assigns lifeguard staff to daily rotation schedules, ensuring proper coverage at all times
Receives and responds to questions, concerns, and complaints from patrons; determines issues and resolves or refers to Aquatics Program Leader III or Aquatics Supervisor as appropriate
Assists in leading training sessions, including safety drills and other emergency procedures; ensures that lifeguard and water safety instructor staff attend required trainings and maintains records
Provides aquatic safety and supervision for patrons; monitors activities in the water, pool decks, and ancillary areas of District aquatics facilities to prevent accidents and to ensure the safety and well-being of patrons
Implements and monitors District policies and procedures; enforces aquatics regulations; cautions patrons regarding unsafe activities
Monitors facility use; ensures that the facility is opened, closed, and secured in compliance with District practices and procedures and that the pool and restrooms are maintained in a safe, neat, and clean condition
Inspects and maintains swimming and pool equipment for functionality; ensures proper placement and availability in the pool area; recommends maintenance and repair as needed
Maintains records of participation and completes required reports
Performs other duties as assigned
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential duties and responsibilities of this position. The functions of this position are primarily performed in outdoor locations as part of a team. The setting includes various weather conditions, including heat and sunshine. Incumbents must wear an appropriate uniform with identification and protective equipment. The environment requires working in and around water as well as slippery and/or wet surfaces. Specialized aspects of the work environment may also include high noise levels, working with participants who are using potentially dangerous sports equipment, and risk of exposure to pool water treatment chemicals and cleaning agents. Incumbents may be assigned an irregular working schedule including weekends, early mornings, evenings and holidays and may have to travel between various locations.
