Zillow’s AI teams are harnessing the power of Generative AI to build services and product experiences for a seamless and convenient real estate transaction experience. The LLM Platform team is building platform services that enable usage of LLMs and multimodal models across Zillow Group businesses. We are using powerful LLMs fine-tuned and adapted for real-estate scenarios with customer trust, privacy, security, and adherence to fair housing as our strategic foundation.

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Engineering Manager to lead the core areas of Zillow Group’s LLM Platform. You will help define Zillow’s approach to leveraging generative AI, creating innovative solutions to power impactful product and business use cases. This team will build the core platform capabilities that help bring LLM powered experiences to production overcoming the novel challenges posed by Generative AI models like unpredictability, hallucinations, cost, model speed etc. You will also own impactful use cases like deriving insights from customer calls at scale and building dialog systems that power conversational experiences. 

You Will Get To

• Lead a team of dedicated engineers in building an end to end platform for Generative AI lifecycle, from prompt engineering to RAG to fine tuning and metrics evaluation and feedback loop in experimentation and production systems.

• Partner closely with product on the vision, strategy, prioritization and execution for the LLM Platform and Call AI Services

• Collaborate with platform teams (AI Platform, Data platform, Human in the loop platform) to establish a shared ecosystem of platforms for end users. 

• Partner closely with our customers AI Teams in identifying platform dependencies and requirements, developing tailored solutions in the domain. 

• Collaborate with Principal engineers to design and implement solutions to achieve shared technical vision.

• Develop strong connections across the AI teams and business teams to better align your team’s vision.

• Stay abreast of Generative AI platform and tools trends to help all of Zillow group innovate

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York and Washington the standard base pay range for this role is $205,600.00 - $328,400.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New York and Washington and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.

Who you are

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing SDEs and Machine Learning Engineers. The candidate should have:

• A degree (BS+) in Computer Science or equivalent highly technical field. Masters in Computer Science preferred.

• 3+ years of management experience. 

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with Machine Learning products (Experience with AI Platform/ ML Ops or NLP/LLM technologies preferred)

• Experience with backend web services and building shared solutions/platform products to challenging problems at enterprise scale. 

• Have vision and passion for Generative AI use cases and applications. 

• Excellent communication skills and a strong passion for collaboration across organizational boundaries.

• Passionate about supporting the growth and development of their team’s careers. 

• Experience with at least one cloud environment (AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud).
