SAC Student Worker, Fall 2025

Description

The South Asia Center is seeking a student willing to work part-time fall semester, both virtually and in-person at the center. The SAC student worker is an integral member for the South Asia Center and will be involved in social media, website, and newsletter content control, administration work, and assistance with event planning. The student should plan to work up to 15 hours a week. Students with a South Asian academic and/or professional background preferred.  

Responsibilities include:  

• Up to 4 hours in office (can be flexible with manager approval)  

• Managing social media (Instagram, LinkedIn, Bluesky, and Twitter) posts/stories in a timely manner for events and announcements  

• Printing and posting flyers around campus to promote events  

• Becoming familiar with South Asia Center website and editing if needed 

• Compiling lists of upcoming events and announcements to be sent out via email newsletter 

• Committing to a consistent schedule throughout the semester  

• Meeting with manager  

 

Qualifications

Requirements:  

• Excellent writing, proofreading, and verbal communications skills. 

• Active user and fluent in social media best practices. 

• Passion for community building. 

• Outgoing, with a genuine interest in what the South Asia Center offers. 

• Competent computer skills; basic knowledge of Microsoft applications, websites, and Canva. 

• Familiarity with advertising for center events around campus  

• Creative problem-solver able to work nimbly in a deadline-oriented manner. 

• Highly detailed and organized.
