We are seeking a seeking a Senior NEPA Planner to join our NEPA planning Team, supporting the work we have with Colorado DOT, Texas DOT, and other state, regional, and local transportation. There may be opportunity to work on NEPA projects with non-DOT federal agencies (Department of Energy, FEMA, USACE, etc.) as well. How will you contribute to the team?
The ideal candidate for this position will apply their knowledge of the NEPA, planning, state, and federal regulatory processes to manage and contribute to our DOT projects, as well as various other NEPA projects around the country.
The candidate will prepare or coordinate the preparation of all levels of NEPA planning documents and technical studies and provide quality assurance/quality control of NEPA, permitting, and planning documents prepared by in-house staff or outside consultants.
The candidate also will coordinate with resource and environmental permitting agencies, local stakeholders, and members of the public.
Additional skills that will be useful involve familiarity with various environmental, strong task management skills, effective communication skills, and the ability to work successfully in both collaborative and self-directed settings.
The exceptional candidate will have:
Knowledge of NEPA, including coordination of supporting technical studies and schedule management; resolution of technical problems; and experience on complex projects or programs.
Environmental consultation experience related to transportation projects or other projects (including projects with federal and state funding) preferred.
Experience with the preparation and review of NEPA and planning documents and oversight of documents prepared by other staff and consultants referred.
Ability to coordinate in-house technical tasks for compliance with baseline schedules and budgets.
Skills to evaluate impacts from transportation projects on the built, cultural and natural environment.
Be able to coordinate with design professionals and overall project teams to identify fatal flaws, schedule delays, opportunities for schedule acceleration or recovery, and opportunities to avoid or minimize impacts, and make cost-effective decisions.
Leadership skills in project or task management roles.
Ability to develop client relationships and maintain client relations.
Ability to monitor and enforce compliance with established quality control standards, ensuring that appropriate quality assurance activities are being performed throughout the project; reviews QC plans and periodic QA compliance audits.
Aptitude for maintaining a professional attitude and attention to detail while working alone, within a team environment, and/or on multiple projects, simultaneously.
What will you contribute?
Have a Bachelor’s degree in planning or a related field, Master’s degree is a plus; This level may be achieved by Planners with 15 years of experience since Bachelor’s degree or 14 years since Master's.
