Overview

Planned Parenthood of Orange and San Bernardino Counties has a full-time opportunity for a Family Planning Staff Physician in San Bernardino, CA.

 

To provide quality patient care, including exams, treatment, education, and counseling for patients in accordance with agency protocols. To assist the Medical Director in overseeing high-quality care to our patients throughout the affiliate.

Qualifications

Licensure and/or Certification Requirements:

• Current: California Medical License, Board Certification or Board eligible in Family Medicine or Obstetrics and Gynecology, and DEA. BLS or ACLS required (ACLS required for Family Medicine).

 

Minimum Education:

• Graduate from an accredited medical school with a degree of Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO).
• Completion of an accredited residency.

 

Minimum Work Experience:

• Post Residency Training and/or experience in Family Planning and Reproductive Health.

 

Other Requirements:

• Possess a warm, caring manner and excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work cooperatively within a team approach and communicate and interact well with staff, volunteers, and patients.
• Following orientation, must be capable of adjusting to patient flow per agency guidelines.
• Ability to relate to diverse communities.
• Accuracy and attention to detail essential.
• Ability to physically assist a patient in distress.
• Maintain professional demeanor at all times.
• Availability to work flexible hours and locations within PPOSBC as required.

• Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
• Must demonstrate high-level computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Electronic medical records experience may also be required.
• This position requires travel to other sites and locations; if using a personal vehicle to meet this requirement, a valid CA driver’s license and current auto insurance in compliance with the minimum requirements of CA vehicle code are required.
• Abortion patients are cared for at each of our health centers and in part through the administrative, support, and other non-clinical services provided at all PPOSBC locations and by all PPOSBC employees, and supporting these critical services is an essential job duty and fundamental responsibility of all employees.

 

Responsibilities

Essential Functions: Essential functions encompass the required tasks, duties, and responsibilities performed as part of the job and the reason the job exists.

• Provide medical and surgical abortion services to agency gestational age limit.
• Perform physical and gynecological examinations for female patients including review of medical history, screening for abnormalities, and performance and interpretation and/or ordering of laboratory tests.
• Provide services in providing expert vasectomy counseling and procedures, as well as follow-up consultations, if applicable.
• Provide contraceptives.
• Adhere to agency’s policies, procedures, and protocols. This may include successfully completing agency, regional, and/or state certification requirements.
