About Our Family
We are a warm, busy, and creatively driven family rooted in a one-of-a-kind home in Ann Arbor. Our house is full of life, with big dogs, art projects, ongoing renovation, and a steady rotation of family and loved ones passing through. We like our home to feel welcoming and alive while also being a functional space for work, creativity, and play for the whole family.
Our household has two working parents, two school-age children, and two large Bernese Mountain Dogs who are very much part of the family. One parent works from the home full-time and uses the house as a creative and professional workspace. The other parent is out of the house several days per week for work, with some work-from-home days in the mix as well. Both parents are business-owners and have many moving pieces to manage in their work lives each day while also juggling being intentional, encouraging parents to their children and a major home renovation.
We are a free-spirited, go-with-the-flow family who loves to create and are intentional about how we spend our time. We love hosting family gatherings, traveling, and supporting our kids being kids as long as possible. We have our priorities in place, and are now working toward a more organized, functional home. We are looking for someone who can help us get there and stay there to help us thrive in the beautiful chaos that we love.
Who You Are / What We're Looking For
You are a natural problem solver who thrives when no two days look the same. You do not wait to be told what to do next. As a tidy, detail-oriented person you can look around, see what needs attention, and handle it with a creative solution. When something unexpected comes up (and it will!), you figure it out, resolve it, and loop us in only when truly necessary. You understand that your job is to take things off our plate, not add to them.
You are warm, grounded, and easy to be around. Our kids love having people in the house who genuinely connect with them, and our extended family is frequently here as well. You know how to read the room, and have the emotional intelligence to innately understand when to be present and conversational, and when to encourage people to work in peace.
You are flexible without being passive. You can take direction, receive feedback, and pivot without missing a beat. At the same time, you bring your own ideas, your own systems, and your own initiative. You do not need your hand held, but you also do not bulldoze. You take ownership from concept to completion — including when things go sideways. You have a growth mindset, and could possibly be interested in growing as the role and our family evolve.
You are comfortable with ambiguity, a little bit of beautiful chaos, and large furry dogs. You are discreet, trustworthy, and take privacy seriously. And above all, you genuinely care about doing a good job and being a true partner to our family.
