The Senior Tax & Accounting Analyst is a key contributor to our global team, responsible for ensuring our software products meet the highest standards of accuracy, reliability, and compliance. As an experienced tax professional, you will translate complex, evolving tax regulations into actionable software requirements for diverse markets. This highly analytical role requires deep expertise in tax laws, strong attention to detail, and a focus on user experience. You will collaborate cross-functionally with product, development, design, and support to deliver high-quality, compliant solutions that customers trust.
About the Role
In this opportunity as a Senior Tax Analyst, you will:
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Research and monitoring
- Owns a defined set of tax jurisdictions and proactively synthesize changes across statutes, regulations, legislative activity, court decisions, forms/instructions, notices, and agency portals.
- Assesses product impact of tax changes.
- Triages conflicting or incomplete guidance; draft clarification requests to tax authorities and recommend interim, defensible approaches pending resolution.
Content implementation and testing
- Lead implementation for owned jurisdictions/forms; scope changes, provide detailed requirements/specifications, and coordinate cross-functional handoffs to meet content deadlines with high accuracy.
- Model and validate complex calculations, corner cases, and interactions across tax content; ensure alignment with data models and user interface.
Requirements and systems analysis
- Gather, analyze, and validate complex regulatory requirements and translate them into detailed, testable requirements and user stories.
- Collaborate across teams to define workflows, business rules, and acceptance criteria; support Agile delivery, SDLC processes, change management, and UAT within a defined feature area.
Collaboration and communication
- Translate complex tax requirements into clear, testable specifications and effective software solutions.
- Partner with product management, development, and design to ensure seamless integration of tax content and optimal user experience.
- Support internal stakeholders and Customer Support with research and responses to client inquiries.
Project contribution
- Manage your deliverables reliably; provide timely status, flag risks early, and support content initiatives of moderate to high complexity.
- Identify and contribute to process improvements that enhance quality, efficiency, and scalability.
Essential Skills
- Tax compliance, analytical, and problem-solving
- Applies substantial expertise to complex scenarios; interprets and operationalizes tax rules across jurisdictions; recommends compliant, customer-centered solutions.
- Leads first-pass on ambiguous areas; models alternatives and proposes defensible positions for review.
- Uses structured analysis to test content; performs root-cause analysis on defects and prevents recurrence via improved requirements or test coverage.
- Mentors Tax Analysts on research methods, interpretation standards, and analytical frameworks; reviews work for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
Research and technology
- Advanced proficiency with tax compliance software (e.g., ONESOURCE, GoSystem Tax, UltraTax) and leading research platforms (e.g., Checkpoint, government databases); mentors others on efficient, compliant workflows and source reliability.
- Applies advanced data analysis to tax content; models complex calculations and corner cases; works confidently with data structures/formats (e.g., CSV, XML, SQL).
- Uses AI and research automation responsibly to increase accuracy and speed (e.g. monitoring legislation, summarizing guidance); validates outputs rigorously, documents prompts/citations, and upholds compliance standards.
- Stays current on emerging tools and features; evaluates and recommends enhancements to team workflows and quality controls; shares best practices with peers.
- Independently and quickly adopts new tools and workflows—including advanced and AI-enabled features—to deliver complex work accurately and improve speed and consistency.
- Anticipates tool limitations, implements workarounds, and flexes to new project types and shifting priorities.
- Communication and collaboration
- Communicates complex information clearly to both tax and non-tax audiences; builds shared understanding across functions.
- Authors technical documentation and requirements with precision; collaborates effectively across teams and geographies.
