About the role

Description

The General Maintenance Worker will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities. This position will primarily be assigned to all landscaping, grounds, parking areas, sidewalks and other exterior areas owned and/or operated by HCCH as the season requires. There will also be some plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems for which assistance will be required.  

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Fertilizes and performs weed control-using the appropriate products in granular or liquid form
  • Mows, trims and edges all lawn areas
  • Keeps parking areas, sidewalks, building perimeter and entrances clean and free of debris and growth
  • Trims, mulches and shapes all shrubbery, low growth trees and beds
  • Removing unwanted, dead or damaged trees
  • Removing unwanted, dead or damaged trees
  • Removing unwanted, dead or damaged trees
  • Ensures that all external areas of HCCH properties appearances are maintained to the highest standard as befits medical facilities
  • Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
  • Performs routine maintenance on building systems.
  • Cleans and assists with upkeep of the facilities.
  • Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Requirements


  • Valid Drivers License
  • Ability to maneuver a trailer
  • Ability to work without direct supervision and accomplish daily, weekly and monthly assignments
  • Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use basic landscaping machinery and tools
  • Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Related experience preferred.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
