Role Overview: What You’ll Be Doing
The Maintenance Shift Director provides real-time operational oversight of the Maintenance Support Center to maximize fleet availability and ensure timely, compliant return to service of all aircraft. This role sets maintenance priorities, leads and develops maintenance controllers, manages performance and costs, and coordinates cross-departmental efforts to deliver safe, efficient, and reliable fleet operations.
Responsibilities
Your Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
- Day-to-day oversight of Maintenance Support Center to maximize fleet availability
- Ensures maintenance controller are focused on all out of service aircraft and have appropriate plans in place to expedite repairs
- Determines priorities concerning aircraft maintenance and capacity decisions
- Operational performance of the MSC
- Supervising maintenance controllers and providing guidance and leadership
- Control costs to maintain departmental budgets
- Ensure departmental communications are timely, factual, and meeting the needs of the business
- Work harmoniously with Maintenance Leadership, Flight Operations, Maintenance Vendors, and all Wheels Up departments
- Set and manage to fleet, team and individual performance goals
- Has operational control and oversees fleet aircraft return to service
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
What You Bring to the Table: Education & Certification Requirements
We’re looking for someone who has a unique mix of experience, skills, and passion for what we do:
- 8 years minimum aircraft maintenance experience (required)
- Part 135 experience (required)
- Maintenance Control and Operations experience (required)
- Experience managing personnel (required)
- Airframe and Powerplant (required)

Physical Requirements
We want to make sure you’re fully equipped for success. Here’s a look at any physical requirements needed for this role:
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while monitoring operational systems and coordinating activities
- Ability to work at a computer workstation for prolonged periods, including frequent use of multiple screens and communication devices
- Ability to speak and hear clearly for frequent telephone and radio communications
- Ability to occasionally walk through office, hangar, or ramp environments as needed
- Ability to lift and carry light items (up to approximately 20 pounds) such as laptops, documents, or small equipment
- Sufficient visual acuity to read detailed technical and operational information on computer displays
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress operational environment, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required
