This course explores historical views and current perspectives of psychopathology, emphasizing diagnostic criteria and treatment types. The successful candidate must be committed to SVCC’s mission to provide high-quality education to the Southside Virginia community.

- Course Content & Specific Duties:
- Teach undergraduate-level Psychopathology, examining major diagnostic categories and criteria for maladaptive behavior.
- Explore biological, psychological, and social factors that contribute to the development and maintenance of psychological disorders.
- Instruct students on evidence-based treatments, clinical assessment methods, and research strategies within the field.
- Design and implement assignments that promote college-level reading comprehension, critical thinking, and clear, coherent written communication.
- Utilize pre-developed assessments aligned with institutional learning outcomes and requirements and evaluate student work to support program and college-wide assessment purposes.
- Deliver instruction in a hybrid format, ensuring all course materials, activities, and assessments meet established college standards for quality and rigor.
- Maintain consistent student engagement through the college’s Canvas Learning Management System (LMS), supporting both in-person and online components of the course.
- Monitor and document class attendance in compliance with college policies, maintaining accurate records and communicating with students and necessary departments as needed to support academic success.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
