About the role

Overview

The Associate Director of Procurement will lead and modernize our indirect procurement function across North America. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for strategic sourcing, supplier partnerships, contract negotiations, spend management, procurement governance, and continuous improvement across key corporate categories.

This position will help shape procurement strategies for a global technology organization and partner closely with Finance, Accounting, IT, Internal Audit, Legal, HR, Marketing, Business Unit members and senior leadership. You will oversee major spending categories, including indirect procurement, IT procurement, travel vendors, corporate cards, purchase order activity, banking services, insurance renewals, and supplier performance.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on procurement leader who can think strategically, negotiate effectively, improve processes, strengthen controls, and build trusted relationships across the business.

Responsibilities

  • Lead indirect procurement strategies across North America, including sourcing, supplier selection, RFQs, price negotiation, contract review, and vendor performance management.
  • Partner with business leaders to identify cost savings, improve supplier quality, reduce risk, and strengthen procurement processes.
  • Oversee significant IT procurement activity, including RFQs, lease-versus-buy analysis, contract review, and supplier negotiations.
  • Manage procurement-related contract obligations and support cross-functional review with Legal, Finance, IT, and business stakeholders.
  • Own and improve the SAP Vendor Master process for North America, including data accuracy, compliance, and governance.
  • Develop and maintain procurement policies, procedures, operating controls, and best practices.
  • Lead travel and entertainment procurement strategy, including vendor management, corporate card oversight, employee experience, and policy compliance.
  • Work with Accounting and Internal Audit to review and update the Corporate T&E policy.
  • Track indirect spending, identify savings opportunities, and present recommendations to senior management.
  • Review quarterly savings goals, achievements, and procurement initiatives with leadership.
  • Develop short- and long-range procurement plans aligned with corporate goals.
  • Identify alternate suppliers and sourcing options to improve resiliency, service quality, and cost effectiveness.
  • Evaluate and negotiate financial services pricing, banking service agreements, insurance renewals, and related vendor contracts.
  • Partner with insurance brokers, HR, and senior management to evaluate coverage, limits, renewals, pricing, and risk management needs.
  • Support J-SOX compliance, internal controls, disaster recovery planning, and procurement-related risk mitigation.
  • Recommend and lead process improvement initiatives that make procurement easier, faster, more transparent, and more scalable.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Finance, Operations, or a related field. MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of procurement, purchasing, strategic sourcing, or supply management experience in a corporate environment.
  • Experience leading indirect procurement categories such as IT, professional services, travel, corporate services, financial services, insurance, facilities, or shared services.
  • Prior management or team leadership experience.
  • Strong contract negotiation, supplier management, sourcing, and cost analysis skills.
  • Ability to develop procurement strategies that improve operating efficiency, service quality, compliance, and financial performance.
  • Strong understanding of procurement controls, vendor governance, policy management, and risk management.
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP/vendor master systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of web-based banking systems, treasury management systems, insurance policies, and corporate card programs preferred.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to lead multiple initiatives across departments.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Occasional travel required, less than 5%.
